'American Idol' judge Paula Abdul wants to go 'Dancing with
the Stars'

As Paula Abdul attempts to re-launch her recording career,
the American Idol judge has apparently expressed an interest
in crossing enemy lines and putting her Grammy-winning dance
moves on display.
"She told me she wanted to do [Dancing with the Stars]," Luis
van Amstel, a former Dancing with the Stars professional
partner who still works as one of the ABC reality show's
choreographers, told TV Guide in the magazine's February
10 issue. "I thought she meant to sing. But she said,
'No. I want to dance.'"
Abdul recently debuted her new single "Dance Like There's
No Tomorrow" -- which was produced by fellow Idol judge
Randy Jackson -- on Idol host Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio
show, and it represents her first single since "Crazy
Cool" was released in 1995.
The "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" music video
will reportedly premiere during Fox's pregame coverage of
Super Bowl XLII on Sunday, February 3.
Before starting her career as a pop star in the 1980s Abdul
had impressive credentials in the dance world, working as
a Los Angeles Lakers' Laker Girl before eventually becoming
the group's choreographer. She then went on to choreograph
music videos for numerous artists, from Duran Duran and Dolly
Parton to Janet Jackson and INXS.
Her music video for "Opposites Attract" won Abdul
a 1991 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video.
However Abdul's also been sandwiched between Jackson and
Simon Cowell at Idol'd judging table the last six spring
seasons, raising the likely issue that -- even if her Idol
contract allowed her to participate in a competing broadcast
network's reality show, which is unclear -- she'd probably
only be able to compete on a fall Dancing with the Stars
edition that took place during when the Fox mega-hit was
off the air.
"But wouldn't that be great?" van Amstel openly
wondered to TV Guide.
