During last week’s American Idol results show, American
Idol 6 winner Jordin Sparks made a special guest appearance.

Singles Chart. “No Air” has now been in the Top
10 for over a month.
After Jordin Sparks’ performance on American Idol,

album, Jordin Sparks. Seacrest also presented Jordin with
two platinum single plaques for having over one million downloads
each of her singles, “No Air” and “Tattoo.”
In addition to the success of her singles, Jordin Sparks

American Idol Results: Kristy Lee Cook Eliminated
Writing by Joe Reality on Wednesday, 16 April, 2008 at 7:07
pm
To kick off the American Idol top 7 results show, Ryan Seacrest
revealed that almost 36 million votes were cast for the remaining
American Idol finalists. For the first musical performance,
the top 7 finalists sang “One Sweet Day.”
After a recap of the American Idol top 7 performance show,
Ryan Seacrest started dividing the finalists into two groups
on stage. Seacrest started a group with Jason Castro and
Carly Smithson on his left and a group with David Cook and
Kristy Lee Cook on his right.
For the Ford Music video, the American Idol finalists performed “I
Want To Break Free.” American Idol 5 finalist Elliott
Yamin made a special guest appearance and sang “Free.” After
Elliott Yamin’s performance, Seacrest asked Syesha
Mercado to join Jason and Carly and asked Brook White to
join David and Kristy Lee.
In an American Idol call-in segment, a viewer asked Kristy
Lee Cook if she was able to buy her horse back. Kristy Lee
Cook said that the guy who bought the horse didn’t
want to sell it back. Another viewer asked the judges what
the first record they ever bought was, and Simon Cowell said, “I
was ten years old, and it was Paula Abdul’s Straight
Up.”
Mariah Carey sang “Bye Bye” from her new album “E=MC².” After
Mariah Carey’s performance, Seacrest called David Archuleta
to center stage and told him that he was safe. Then, Seacrest
asked David Cook to swap groups with Syesha Mercado.
Seacrest asked David Archuleta to join the group that he
thought was safe, but Archuleta sat down in the middle of
the stage. Since Archuleta wouldn’t make a decision,
Seacrest revealed that David Cook, Jason Castro, and Carly
Smithson were the safe group.
Syesha Mercado, Brooke White, and Kristy Lee Cook took center
stage as the bottom three. Seacrest revealed that Syesha
was safe and would be joining them next week. After talking
with the judges, Seacrest announced, “After the nationwide
vote, the person staying with us is Brooke. Kristy Lee Cook
leaves us tonight on American Idol.” To close out the
show, Kristy Lee Cook sang an encore of “Forever.”

American Idol Guys Sing Mariah Carey Better Than The Girls
Writing by Joe Reality on Tuesday, 15 April, 2008 at 6:25
pm
To open the American Idol top 7 performance show, Ryan Seacrest
reminded viewers of last week’s shocking elimination
of Michael Johns. Mariah Carey appeared as a mentor for the
finalists, and the theme for the week was songs by Mariah
Carey.
David Archuleta sang “When You Believe.” Randy
Jackson said, “You can sing anything.” Paula
Abdul said, “It must feel great for Mariah to be able
to hear your interpretation of the song, and I know she was
beaming, because you made her proud.” Simon Cowell
said, “I thought it was very, very good.”
Carly Smithson sang “Without You.” Randy Jackson
said, “It was pretty good.” Paula Abdul said, “I
actually liked that you showed some vocal restraint.” Simon
Cowell said, “I thought that it was an ok version.”
Syesha Mercado sang “Vanishing.” Randy Jackson
said, “You did a good job on it all things considered.” Paula
Abdul said, “You’re smart because you picked
a song that not many people know.” Simon Cowell said, “Technically,
it was very, very good indeed. Having said that, I’m
not sure at this stage in the competition that I would have
chosen a song which not many people know about.”
Brooke White sang “Hero.” Randy Jackson said, “The
bridge kind of threw me a little bit.” Paula Abdul
said, “Every ounce of you is totally authentic to who
you are.” Simon Cowell said, “It was a bit like
ordering a hamburger and only getting the bun. In other words,
the vital ingredient, the bit in the middle was missing.”
Kristy Lee Cook sang “Forever.” Randy Jackson
said, “You definitely started stepping up towards the
end.” Paula Abdul said, “I’m like blown
away.” Simon Cowell said, “You didn’t give
me chills. I think you managed with what you could.”
David Cook sang “Always Be My Baby.” Randy Jackson
said, “That was the most brilliant performance yet.” Paula
Abdul said, “That song could be in a movie soundtrack
right now.” Simon Cowell said, “It was original,
it was daring, it stood out by a mile.”

Mariah Carey To Appear On American Idol
Writing by Joe Reality on Tuesday, 15 April, 2008 at 1:20
am
Last week, American Idol raised money for charity through
Idol Gives Back and shocked America by eliminating Michael
Johns from the competition. This week, the remaining 7 American
Idol finalists will perform songs by Mariah Carey. For the
record, if Michael Johns had made it through, then he revealed
that he would have performed a blues soul version of Carey’s “Vision
Of Love.”
On Tuesday, April 15 from 8 PM to 9 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed,
Brooke White, Carly Smithson, David Archuleta, David Cook,
Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook and Syesha Mercado will perform
Mariah Carey songs.
On Wednesday, April 16 from 9 PM to 10 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed,
one of the final 7 American Idol finalists will be eliminated
on the American Idol results show. Also, Mariah Carey will
give a live performance.
Mariah Carey’s new album “E=MC²” is
being released in stores on April 15. This is the eleventh
album of Mariah Carey’s career, and “Touch My
Body,” the first single from the album, is already
a top 10 radio hit.

No Sanjaya On American Idol This Year According To Michael
Johns
Writing by Joe Reality on Monday, 14 April, 2008 at 5:39
pm
During American Idol 6, Sanjaya mania swept across America.
In a season that was underwhelming in talent, Sanjaya’s
hairstyles and unique performances kept viewers entertained.
Even though some may argue, recently eliminated American
Idol finalist Michael Johns has gone on record claiming that
season 7 is different from previous seasons. Johns said, “Of
any season that I could have been on, to be a part of this
one was just really special. The fact that there was no laughing
stock, there were no jokers, do you know what I mean? I think
we had a lot of respect in the public eye, and that’s
something I can be very proud of.”
So what did Michael Johns mean by no jokers or no laughing
stock? Johns explained, “As Simon says, the show is
only as good as the talent that walks through the door. For
some reason, the way that it worked this year was like they
wanted it to be a singing competition rather than a TV show.
Do you know what I mean? No controversy of Sanjaya or whoever
else. They wanted to make it a really good singing competition,
and I think that’s what they did. I applaud them for
it.”
Michael Johns has a point. While Kristy Lee Cook has gained
the support of many viewers who like to vote for the worst,
she is a far cry from ponyhawk-sporting Sanjaya. In previous
seasons of American Idol, there was usually a contestant
who was so unique and different that viewers either loved
them or hated them. However, the lack of such a contestant
this year doesn’t necessarily make American Idol more
interesting. There is something to be said for having a contestant
who is so different that they create a massive controversy
among viewers.

RTV Predicts: Our Writers Predict the Week Ahead…
Writing by Jennifer_Brown on Monday, 14 April, 2008 at 10:55
am
Whether you love it or hate it, one thing’s for sure
about it: reality TV gets people talking. That’s part
of the fun of watching the shows — discussing the episodes
of the past week and predicting what will happen in the week
ahead. Another sure thing about reality TV: Our writers are
watching. And we’re talking. And, yes, we’re
predicting, too. We’ve asked our writers to make their
predictions about the week ahead for your favorite shows
(and ours, too!). Here’s what they said:
Joe, on American Idol:
1. Expect another elimination shocker for the second week
in a row. Not quite as big a shocker as Michael Johns, but
close.
2. Ryan Seacrest will offer up some type of apology over
how he handled Michael Johns’ elimination in an attempt
to repair his image with viewers.
3. David Cook will be back to his old self and will once
again amaze the judges with a unique performance.
Jen, on Dancing with the Stars:
Okay, so now the obvious eliminations have been made. This
week it’s time to make some tough decisions. Everyone
who’s left is a pretty darn good dancer. There will
still be some griping about trying to keep up with Kristi
Yamaguchi, but this week she’ll pull out all stops
and nobody will even come close. Probably Marissa will go
home this week, while Shannon & Derek will look more
like Prom Queen and King than ever (insert Awwww here).
Jen, on The Biggest Loser:
It’s finale week! Have you voted? For the first time
ever, fans votes will help decide who could potentially win
the big prize. Both guys are on the chopping block. I think
fans will accept Mark’s last-minute turnaround of attitude
and vote him in, cutting Roger out of the running. That will
leave the final three Ali, Kelly, and Mark. Who will win?
I predict Ali will take it (man, that girl is TINY now!),
although they all deserve it (wouldn’t you agree?).
Jen, on The Bachelor:
Shayne and Matt will grow ever-closer, and he’ll have
a hard time concentrating on the fact that there are other
girls there. But don’t worry, Robin will make her presence
known…and known…and known. Marshanna will let
the claws come out this week, and may not survive the rose
ceremony because of it.

American Idol: Should Ryan Seacrest Apologize To Michael
Johns?
Writing by Joe Reality on Sunday, 13 April, 2008 at 8:31
pm
Move over Simon Cowell. The most hated man on American Idol
now appears to be Ryan Seacrest. After Seacrest’s cruel
tease during the American Idol results show to make Michael
Johns think he might have a second chance since it was Idol
Gives Back week, many American Idol fans have been expressing
their outrage.
On American Idol message boards and blogs, some fans have
been calling for Seacrest to be kicked off the show while
other fans have been demanding that Seacrest apologize to
Michael Johns. While Seacrest does have his defenders who
point out that he was likely just reading off a scripted
card, the overwhelming response seems to be that Seacrest
went too far.
So what does Michael Johns think about Ryan Seacrest’s
cruel trick? In a media conference call, Johns said, “Look,
I get the television aspect of this competition, but it was
tough. I thought okay, I’m going home and then he did
that and I was, ‘Wait a second, maybe I’m not
going home. Maybe they’re just having a good laugh.’ I
hadn’t been in the bottom three before, so I was thinking
that was a possibility. When reality set in and Ryan gave
me a look as if to say, ‘Look, I am so sorry I had
to do that,’ but you get it. I don’t hold it
against Ryan or anything. After this I’m hopefully
going to make a great record. It won’t be the last
you see of me.”
Since Michael Johns doesn’t hold any grudges against
Ryan Seacrest, should American Idol viewers? Should Ryan
Seacrest apologize for the way he handled Michael John’s
elimination? As unusual as it may sound, there is a strong
argument that could be made that the way Ryan Seacrest’s
mean trick could actually be the best thing that could have
happened for Michael Johns. Because the comment came off
as cruel, it garnered sympathy for Michael Johns from millions
of viewers, which could help him as he continues to pursue
his career.

American Idol Finalist Speaks Out On Shout To The Lord
Writing by Joe Reality on Sunday, 13 April, 2008 at 1:01
am
The American Idol finalists performed the song “Shout
To The Lord” twice. The first time was on Idol Gives
Back and the second time was on the American Idol results
show. During Idol Gives Back, a huge controversy erupted
over the lyrics of the song being altered to replace “My
Jesus” with “My Shepherd.”
During the American Idol results show, the finalists actually
sang the “My Jesus” version of the song. No mention
was made on the show of the controversy or why “My
Jesus” was originally edited, but then added back when
the song was performed for a second time.
During a media call, recently eliminated American Idol finalist
Michael Johns was asked about the finalists singing an overtly
Christian religious song and if the producers gave them an
option on singing it. Johns said, “Religions are personal.
I think there’s a big difference between spiritual
and religion, you know what I mean? With Idol Gives Back
it’s a bigger picture out there. Just to be a part
of something like that, it’s just magic. I didn’t
expect that coming into the season. You’re thinking
about the singing in the competition, but then Sunday night
happened and you’re just like oh, my goodness. It’s
amazing to sit there and look at these artists giving back
and doing such good. I was happy to sing it.”

Dolly Parton Wants To Duet With Michael Johns, Keith Urban
And Nicole Kidman Reach Out
Writing by Joe Reality on Saturday, 12 April, 2008 at 9:43
am
While American Idol viewers are still reeling from Michael
Johns’ shocking elimination, a couple of famous celebrities
are reaching out to the singer. For many, Michael John’s
best performance of the competition came during Dolly Parton
week. Even Michael Johns himself said, “It’s
All Wrong, But It’s All Right, the Dolly week, turning
a country song into a soul song. That’s my niche. I’m
just sad I’m not going to do any more of it.”
Apparently, Dolly Parton was impressed with Michael Johns’ performance
as well. Johns revealed, “I was on the line with FOX
and Friends, I think, this morning doing an interview and
they were doing an interview with Dolly and Lily Tomlin,
actually, talking about the Nine to Five musical. I don’t
know how she was made aware of it, but all of a sudden Dolly
was talking to me, saying, ‘Michael, I can’t
believe that you got voted off. It was really shocking to
me,’ and the fact that she loved what I did with her
song, which was amazing to me. She said she would love to
write and maybe sing a duet one of these days. That was pretty
cool.”
In addition to Dolly Parton, Michael Johns revealed, “I
got a reach-out from Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman.” Johns
added, “Saying I was their favorite and they watched
every week. It’s just amazing how far this show reaches,
everyone from Dolly Parton to Keith Urban. It’s insane.”
The message from Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman was passed
on to Michael Johns at an event he went to after Idol Gives
Back. Johns said, “It was the last thing I was expecting
to hear, but any time you can get two great Australians saying
that to you, I was very, very honored.”

American Idol: Michael Johns Shocked By His Elimination
Writing by Joe Reality on Friday, 11 April, 2008 at 7:28
pm
When it was revealed that Michael Johns had been eliminated
from American Idol, the other finalists gasped and the audience
booed. In a recent American Idol media call, Michael Johns
talked about the audience’s reaction. Johns said, “It
was pretty loud, actually. I don’t know how it came
across on television. Look, it gave me solace in the fact
that I stuck in there with a lot of people, and it made me
feel really special, actually.”
When asked if he was surprised to be eliminated, Johns responded “I
mean, of course. I would be lying to say that I wasn’t
shocked. I hadn’t been in the bottom three and I thought
the last two or three weeks had been my strongest. We’re
in this competition and stuff can happen, and it did.”
While Simon Cowell tried to blame Michael Johns’ elimination
on song choice, Johns stood by his decision. Johns told reporters, “Absolutely
no regrets at all, mate.” He explained, “I think
I pick songs that mean something to me lyrically and emotionally.
Singing ‘Dream On’ by Aerosmith with a 20-piece
orchestra, I’ve said it on the show, that’s amazing.”
When asked if “Dream On” didn’t evoke
the same emotion as some of the other songs, Johns explained, “No,
because, as I said, I’m living my dream. That song
is all about how they can struggle and overcome things, and
I’ve done that for the last ten years. Living in America,
this is my dream. Dream on until the dreams come true, and
they’re coming true right now. That’s why I chose
that song for sure.”

Is Chris Daughtry’s Song a Steal?
Writing by Jennifer_Brown on Friday, 11 April, 2008 at 8:11
am
American Idol season 5 fourth-placer, Chris Daughtry, has
no problem making the headlines. Since what many viewers
felt was a shocking elimination from the show, the singer
has been tearing up the music industry, scoring a record
deal with RCA Records and 19 Entertainment, and putting out
a self-titled album that hit #1 on Billboard charts after
just nine weeks.
But recently his band has come under fire, with allegations
that their song, “Feels Like Tonight” might be
plagiarized from a song called “Tonight,” by
Asphalt.
“Feels Like Tonight,” co-written by Dr. Luke,
Max Martin, and Shep Solomon, includes lyrics that are strikingly
similar to the Asphalt version, particularly in the refrain,
where both versions croon, “It feels like tonight…” in
an almost-identical melody.
This is not the first time Dr. Luke has been accused of
ripping off song lyrics. Pop singer Avril Levigne settled
out of court over allegations that her hit song “Girlfriend” copied
lyrics of a Rubinoos song, “I Wanna be Your Boyfriend.”
Daughtry is considered the most successful Idol contestant
who did not make it to the top two, proving that being in
the Top Ten just might be enough to create a hugely successful
career — an accomplishment that might buoy optimistic
hopes of Michael Johns fans. Johns was the victim of a shocking
elimination in last night’s American Idol, leaving
some fans outraged and confused.

American Idol Fans Outraged Over Seacrest’s Cruelty
To Michael Johns
Writing by Joe Reality on Friday, 11 April, 2008 at 1:01
am
Over the years, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has often
come up with some very twisted and shocking ways to reveal
which contestants has been eliminated on American Idol. With
the American Idol results show running an entire hour, it’s
Seacrest’s job to keep the show lively and interesting.
However, many American Idol fans are outraged over Ryan
Seacrest’s comments during the elimination of Idol
finalist Michael Johns. In what could be Seacrest’s
cruelest tease ever on American Idol, he said, “That
means Michael has the lowest number of votes this week. Now,
last year during Idol Gives Back, we didn’t eliminate
anybody at this stage of the competition.”
After the camera cut in on the face of a surprised Michael
Johns turning to give Seacrest a hopeful look, Seacrest continued, “Tonight,
we’re going to say goodbye to Michael Johns.” Many
American Idol fans immediately turned to the American Idol
message boards to express both their surprise over Michael
Johns elimination and their anger over the way Seacrest delivered
the results.
As with any shocking elimination on American Idol, there
are plenty of cries of conspiracy and demands for a recount.
Conspiracy theories range from fans not voting because they
didn’t think there would be an elimination during Idol
Gives Back week to American Idol producers scripting the
outcome to boost ratings with a shocker elimination.
However, many fans are just as upset over the way the elimination
was handled as the elimination itself. A common theme of
complaints is that making Michael Johns think he might have
a chance of continuing on the show was cruel and inappropriate,
especially considering it came in a week where Idol was promoting
charity and giving.
At least Michael Johns can take solace in the fact that
going in a shocking elimination on American Idol can often
be just as good as winning. Both Jennifer Hudson and Chris
Daughtry went on to very successful careers after what many
fans considered to be early exits from American Idol.

American Idol Results Shocker: Michael Johns Eliminated
Writing by Joe Reality on Thursday, 10 April, 2008 at 6:14
pm
After the charitable endeavor of Idol Gives Back, it was
back to the business of elimination on American Idol. American
Idol is never a show to steer away from controversy, which
was evidenced by the American Idol finalists performing an
encore of “Shout To The Lord.” As Reality TV
Magazine reported, the song was edited to change “My
Jesus” to “My Shepherd” during the Idol
Gives Back performance. This time, the finalists sang the “My
Jesus, My Savior” line.
After a celebrity dance video, Ryan Seacrest revealed that
over thirty-one million votes were cast for the top 8 finalists.
First, Seacrest called Brooke White to center stage. Seacrest
had Brooke read his card that revealed she was safe. Next,
Seacrest called David Cook to center stage and revealed that
he was safe. Finally, Seacrest called David Archuleta to
center stage and revealed that he was also safe.
After an Idol Gives Back video segment with Forest Whitaker,
American Idol 6 winner Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown performed “No
Air.” For the Ford music video, the American Idol top
8 finalists performed “I Just Want To Celebrate.” First,
Ryan Seacrest called Jason Castro to center stage and revealed
that he was safe. Next, Seacrest called Kristy Lee Cook to
center stage and revealed that she was also safe.
Since five finalists had been announced as safe, it meant
the bottom three were Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, and
Syesha Mercado. After an Idol Gives Back video segment with
Bono, Presidential candidates Hilary Clinton, John McCain,
and Barack Obama encouraged viewers to donate to Idol Gives
Back.
As Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, and Syesha Mercado waited
on stage, Randy Jackson said, “Pretty surprising bottom
three.” Paula Abdul said America got it partly right
and partly wrong, while Simon Cowell professed that America
had connected with him.
Ryan Seacrest revealed that after the nationwide vote that
Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado were safe. In one of Ryan
Seacrest’s more cruel teases, he said, “That
means Michael has the lowest number of votes this week. Now,
last year during Idol Gives Back, we didn’t eliminate
anybody at this stage of the competition. Tonight, we’re
going to say goodbye to Michael Johns.”

American Idol Jesus Controversy
Writing by Joe Reality on Wednesday, 9 April, 2008 at 9:47
pm
Leave it to American Idol to step into a huge controversy
with a charity fundraiser. To close out Idol Gives Back,
the American Idol top 8 finalists sang “Shout To The
Lord.” By ending the show with a Christian song, it
ran the risk of possible offending people of other religions.
However, the finalists sang a modified version of the song.
Instead of singing the verse that goes “My Jesus, My
Savior,” the finalists sang “My Shepherd, My
Savior.” Jesus was replaced with the word “shepherd.”
The change was likely an attempt by American Idol producers
to lessen any controversy among people of different religions.
However, the modification of the song seems to have created
controversy as well.
After Idol Gives Back, the American Idol message board lit
up with posts of people questioning the appropriateness of
having the finalists sing a Christian song. Not only were
some people of other religions offended, but some Christians
were also offended that “Jesus” was edited out
of the song.
Even though “Jesus” was removed from the final
song, “Jesus” was included in an earlier song
by Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey sang the verse “Higher
Jesus” in the song “Fly Like A Bird.”
Also, creating some controversy was Ben Stiller’s
final appearance on the show. After American Idol closed
Idol Gives Back with two songs with religious messages, Ben
Stiller appeared in front of an empty theater. After realizing
no one was there, Ben cursed “What the ****, Seacrest.
**** Seacrest.” While Ben’s words were bleeped
out, some viewers felt it was an inappropriate way to end
a charity show.

Idol Gives Back Telethon
Writing by Joe Reality on Wednesday, 9 April, 2008 at 7:24
pm
How did Idol Gives Back fill two and a half hours? With celebrities
making pitches to raise money, with musical performances,
and with video segments on children in need. Without the
pretense that someone might get eliminated at the end of
the show, Idol Gives Back took on more of a straight telethon-like
approach than last year.
The evening kicked off with a group performance or Rihanna’s “Don’t
Stop The Music” by the top 8 American Idol finalists.
As the Idols sang, several stars from So You Think You Can
Dance performed. The combination of song and dance proved
to be very effective, and the opening number turned out to
be one of the highlights of the night.
After the opening performance, NASCAR champion Jimmy Johnson
made the first celebrity appeal for donations. Also, making
pitches to raise money were George Lopez, Kylie Minogue,
Maria Shriver, Ben Stiller, Kobe Bryant, Triple H, Mary Murphy,
Billy Crystal, The Jonas Brothers, Bono, Julianne Moore,
John Cena, Adam Sandler, Eli & Peyton Manning, David & Victoria
Beckham, Keifer Sutherland, Celine Dion, Jimmy Kimmel, Whoopi
Goldberg, Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Silverman, Forest Whitaker,
Gordon Brown, Keith Urban, Reese Witherspoon, Dane Cook,
Alicia Keys, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Robin Williams,
Rob Schneider, Tyra Banks, David Spade, and Brad Pitt.
In between the celebrity pitches and the video segments
on children in need, there were numerous musical performances.
Snoop Dogg and Charlie Wilson performed “Can’t
Say Goodbye.” Terri Hatcher sang Carrie Underwood’s “Before
He Cheats.” Miley Cyrus sang “Good And Broken” and “See
You Again.” Fergie performed “Finally” with
John Legend and “Barracuda” with Heart. Annie
Lennox performed “Many Rivers To Cross.” Carrie
Underwood performed “Praying For Time.” Gloria
Estefan and Shelia E. performed “Get On Your Feet.” The
American Idol finalists performed “Seasons Of Love.” In
a video segment, Daughtry performed “What About Now.” Mariah
Carey performed “Fly Like A Bird.”
To close out the show, the American Idol finalists once
again took the stage with a group performance of “Shout
To The Lord.” Even though all the Idols were safe during
Idol Gives Back, the American Idol results show will air
Thursday night and one more Idol will be eliminated.

Say what you want about American Idol’s cranky Brit
judge, Simon Cowell, when it comes to giving praise to Idol
contestants. But one thing you must say about him is, when
it comes to charity, he’s definitely willing to give.
Two weeks ago, Cowell paid big for a shopping spree with
Ivanka Trump to support Celebrity Apprentice winner, Piers
Morgan’s, charity of choice, The Intrepid Fallen Heroes
Fund.
This week it’s Idol’s turn to go charitable,
and Simon’s got his wallet out once again. Yesterday,
he revealed that he’ll be donating a day’s pay
to Idol Gives Back. Cowell, who traveled across the U.S.
and through Africa during last year’s Idol Gives Back,
was touched by the children living in extreme conditions,
as was host Ryan Seacrest. In fact, earlier this week Seacrest
announced that he, too, will be donating his paycheck this
year to the cause.
Funds raised during Idol Gives Back will go to many children’s
charities, such as The Children’s Defense Fund and
Save the Children.
Idol Gives Back will air Wednesday, April 9th at 8:00 PM
(ET) on FOX.

American Idol Top 8 Show Their Inspiration
Writing by Joe Reality on Tuesday, 8 April, 2008 at 6:25
pm
For the American Idol top 8 finalists performance show, the
theme was inspirational songs. Michael Johns sang “Dream
On.” Randy Jackson said, “I thought that was
a pretty good song choice for you, but it had some pitch
problems to me.” Paula Abdul said, “You sound
as good as you look.” Simon Cowell said, “I thought
it was a very good performance.”
Syesha Mercado sang “I Believe.” Randy Jackson
said, “It was ok, just ok.” Paula Abdul said, “I
just think hands down this is one of your most shining nights.” Simon
Cowell said, “Technically, I thought you sang it very
well. However, what it lacked for me was that big, big wave
of emotion, which I got when Fantasia sang it.”
Jason Castro sang “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” Randy
Jackson said, “Dude, Jason Castro is back in the hunt.
That was the hottest so far tonight.” Paula Abdul said, “You
have the most definitive sound.” Simon Cowell said, “First
time, I heard that version I wasn’t sure; second time,
loved it; third time, fantastic.”
Kristy Lee Cook sang “Anyway.” Randy Jackson
said, “There were a couple little pitch moments, but
I loved that.” Paula Abdul said, “I think you
outdid yourself tonight. This was your best by far.” Simon
Cowell said, “I thought you were very, very good, indeed.”
David Cook sang “Innocent.” Randy Jackson said, “I’m
not sure this was one of your strongest weeks right here.” Paula
Abdul said, “I think that you are so well defined as
being the whole package.” Simon Cowell said, “I
didn’t like this performance very much at all.”
Carly Smithson sang “The Show Must Go On.” Randy
Jackson said, “It was disconnected for me.” Paula
Abdul said, “I just didn’t feel the connection.” Simon
Cowell said, “It actually came over as kind of an angry
performance.”
David Archuleta sang “Angels.” Randy Jackson
said, “That was your hottest moment the whole season.” Paula
Abdul said, “That sums it up for me, fantastic.” Simon
Cowell said, “Best song choice of the night so far.”
Brooke White sang “You’ve Got A Friend.” Randy
Jackson said, “For me, I don’t think it was your
best performance. It was ok.” Paula Abdul said, “I
think it was the perfect way to close the evening.” Simon
Cowell said, “It was nice. Was it original? No. Was
it pleasant? Yes.”

Writing by Joe Reality on Tuesday, 8 April, 2008 at 1:01
am
American Idol viewers can look forward to three episodes

eliminated from the competition. This week, the eight remaining
finalists will perform. On Tuesday, April 8 from 8 PM to
9 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed, Brooke White, Carly Smithson,
David Archuleta, David Cook, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook,
Michael Johns, and Syesha Mercado will perform inspirational
songs.
On Wednesday, April 9 from 7:30 PM to 10 PM ET/PT, there
will be a special episode of American Idol called Idol Gives
Back. During this episode, no one will get kicked off the
show. Instead, Idol Gives Back will be a musical celebration
to raise money and awareness for U.S. and international charities.
Numerous celebrities are scheduled to participate, including
Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning,
Peyton Manning, Mariah Carey, Robin Williams, Celine Dion,
Forest Whitaker, Billy Crystal, Dane Cook, Kiefer Sutherland,
Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John
Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart, Gloria Estefan, Vanessa
Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Connolly, Elliott Yamin,
Fantasia and Amy Adams.
On Thursday, April 10 from 8 PM to 9 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed,
American Idol will hold the results show for the top eight
finalists, and one more finalist will be eliminated from
the competition. American Idol 6 winner Jordin Sparks and
recording artist Chris Brown will also perform “No
Air.”

Simon Cowell Predicts Battle Of The Davids On American Idol
Writing by Joe Reality on Monday, 7 April, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Who will win American Idol 7? Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell,
Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul appeared on Larry King Live
to discuss the season 7 finalists and Idol Gives Back. While
Ryan Seacrest just joked that there would be a winner, Randy
Jackson predicted a boy would win. Simon Cowell predicted, “It’ll
be David versus David.”
In regards to David Cook, Randy Jackson said, “He’s
definitely one of my favorites. I think he’s got a
shot at winning the whole thing, this kid.” Simon Cowell
said, “This is the guy I would actually choose to listen
to on a personal level. Forget what I think about the business,
I like this guy. I think he’s very good, my favorite.”
In regards to Carly Smithson, Simon Cowell said, “I’ll
tell you the problem I have with Carly is I don’t think
she knows who she is. I don’t think you can listen
to a Carly song and go that’s who she is.” Paula
Abdul said, “I think she picks songs that she thinks
we’re going to approve of.”
In regards to Michael Johns, Randy Jackson said, “He’s
a really talented guy. My problem with him is up until recently
he’s been picking the wrong songs.” Simon Cowell
said, “I like this guy. I think sometimes he’s
a little bit like he’s auditioning for a spot as the
lead singer in a rock band, and then he gets it right when
he does the whole blues soul thing.”
In regards to Brooke White, Paula Abdul said, “She
puts her heart and soul into every song. America really connects
with her.” Ryan Seacrest said, “I like her. She
doesn’t have a government. In other words, she gets
on stage and she says what’s on her mind without thinking
about it, without being too much of a politician.” Simon
Cowell said, “Her problem is the last two weeks she’s
been boring.”
In regards to David Archuleta, Randy Jackson said, “I
think David’s really, really talented. He’s also
one of the ones to beat.” Ryan Seacrest said, “Out
of the gate, he was right up here, at the top of the crop,
and it’s hard to maintain that each and every week.” Simon
Cowell said, “He’s the one to beat, Larry. He
really is the one to beat.”
