American Idol Results Leave Michael Johns Family in Tears

It was an American idol results show shocker. Did Michael
Johns really get voted off of the Fox reality TV show while
Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado are still on? Not to mention
Kristy Lee Cook and Jason Castro. Michael Johns is indeed
out and unless you are new to American idol you might want
to understand that talent is not the factor that gets votes.

It's a popularity contest at this point, pure and simple.
That's why Taylor Hicks won when he clearly wasn't the most
talented and that's the reason Blake Lewis made it all the
way to the finals last season. When American idol get to
the final ten, it's all about the votes from the fans, the
performances really don't matter all that much.

At some point that will need to change and American idol
will have to use a formula somewhat similar to "Dancing
with the Stars" (The ABC Reality TV hit) or they will
continue to lose viewers. Right now it is pretty clear that
David Archuleta has this thing won, no matter how boring
his songs are, and no matter how many times he forgets the
words to the songs.
Us Weekly magazine reports that Michael Johns' family isn't
taking his American Idol elimination so well. The family
was very upset and crying but Michael Johns held it together
on stage very well and finished again with "Dream On" by
Aerosmith one more time. All of our American idol coverage
is here. Michael Johns likely should have made the top five,
but as idol goes, he is out while lesser performers continue
on the show.
