American Idol: Kristy Lee Cook Made Simon Cowell Feel Awkward

American Idol finalist Kristy Lee Cook had several memorable
moments on the show. In addition to her performances, Kristy
Lee will likely be remembered for some of her comments to
American Idol judge Simon Cowell.
After Simon Cowell compared Kristy Lee’s performance
of “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away” to “musical
wallpaper,” Kristy Lee told Simon, “I can blow
you out of your socks and you know it.” Both host Ryan
Seacrest and the American Idol judges got quite a bit of
amusement out of the comment.
After her elimination from American Idol, reporters asked
Kristy Lee if she was embarrassed by that moment. Kristy
Lee replied, “It really does take a lot to get me embarrassed.
And I really wasn’t embarrassed after it. It’s
just my way of saying that I’m going to show you what
I have. You don’t really – he didn’t really
get what I have, and I don’t think he still does because
I still have a lot more to give. But it’s just my way
of basically saying that – ‘Watch out because
I’m going to show you what I have.’”
When asked if she tripped over her words, Kristy Lee said, “Well,
not really. I didn’t – I don’t look at
it as that was being something bad to say just because I’m
not that kind of person, but I just was saying I’m
going to blow you off your socks, so I just thought it was
appropriate. And I thought it was kind of funny, got everybody’s
attention.”
During the most recent American Idol results show, Kristy
Lee Cook made another interesting comment about Simon Cowell.
Kristy Lee said that Simon Cowell could be kind of a butt.
Kristy Lee explained, “Well, he can – he’s
just – he’s got his own little – his remarks
that are not very nice to people. After time, it kind of
builds up. And Brooke, like what he said to Brooke the other
night. And so I just – I was like saying a nice word
but telling him that’s a little butt sometimes, a goofy
little brat. I was debating between brat and butt, but I
figured I would just say butt. I don’t know why.”
For her farewell performance on American Idol, Kristy Lee
Cook started by singing directly to Simon Cowell. When asked
how Simon Cowell reacted, Kristy Lee revealed, “He
said, ‘Well, you made it awkward for me.’ And
I said, ‘Well, now, you know what it’s like to
feel like us singing in front of you all the time.’ And
he just started laughing. It was kind of funny.”
