Simon Cowell gets live call from first love on 'American
Idol'

Simon Cowell's past has caught up with him - and she's a
divorced mother of three who lives in California.
Tara McDonald-Smith is the mystery woman who stunned the
tart-tongued American Idol idol judge by revealing in a call
to the show Wednesday that she gave him his first kiss when
he was just nine.
"It was brilliant talking to him," McDonald-Smith
told The Daily News today. "I couldn't believe I finally
got to talk to him after all this time."
McDonald-Smith, 46, said she knew she was on Cowell's mind "because
he mentioned me in an article a couple years ago, that I
was his first kiss."
"I tried to reach him after that but I didn't know how," she
said. "Then someone gave me a number for the show and
I left a message with American Idol and they called me back.
It was a lot of fun."
And most of the fun was at Cowell's expense.
It was during the show's Q & A session when a woman with
a English accent - identified only as Tara, 46, from Petaluma,
Calif. - called in and revealed her secret.
Completely and uncharacteristically flustered, Cowell immediately
recognized the voice and asked, "Tara Miller, is that
you?"
It was indeed. And the next question from Cowell's giddy
fellow judges - Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson - was how did
the show's harshest judge rate as a kisser.
McDonald-Smith's pregnant pause drew huge laughs and made
Cowell blush.
"I hope I didn't embarrass him," McDonald-Smith
said. "But he didn't answer my question, either, which
was whether our kiss was better than the time he kissed Paula
Abdul."
Abdul, one of the American Idol, once bussed Cowell on the
show and declared him a good kisser.
McDonald-Smith was Cowell's next door neighbor in Radlett,
Hertfordshire and recalled that their kiss happened in yard
behind his house.
"I don't remember who made the first move," she
said. "I just remember it was very sweet and very cute.
We were kids. We didn't know what we were doing."
Cowell's first love said she moved to San Francisco two decades
ago and worked at the British Consulate before she decided
to settle down in Northern California.
McDonald-Smith said she followed her former neighbor's career
and would watch American Idol with three sons, Connor, 17,
Rory, 16, and Liam, 11.
"I told them all about it," she said. "They
couldn't believe it at first."
McDonald-Smith said Cowell as an adult isn't all that different
from what he was as a child.
"He said what he thought even then," she said. "But
he really was very sweet. I would love to see him again.
I think it would be great fun."
